In 2017, the New York Times released the article, “Some Colleges Have More Students From the Top 1 Percent Than the Bottom 60.” The report draws on data concerning Federal Pell Grant recipients and reveals that 22.8% of Middlebury students are from the top 1% of the U.S. population while only 14.2% of students come from the bottom 60%. Over the Fall Semester, under the guidance of scholar-in-residence Sue Halpern, I interviewed Middlebury College students, faculty, administrators, and staff about the way that this class disparity plays out on campus. I then took these interviews and compiled them into a 40-minute podcast.
