"Landscape" is often used as a catch-all phrase for the environment around us, it is at the nexus of a geographic sense of place as well as a dynamic identity with our surroundings. The essence and evolution of landscape is captured in infinite ways, yet often they are fleeting or stowed away in a a frame, in a memory etc. I'm interested in the poetic-scape, how we can create the landscape around us out of words through a repository of poetry that can be both an individual and collective "scape" (be it escape or inscape or otherwise). This project will explore how poetry can bridge the boundaries of landscape often delineated in geography and geology, by introducing individual stories to mingle in the geomorphology around us and ponderings that seek to reflect written geographies in the places and spaces we occupy. This project aims to develop an interactive map of formative bearings in this community through a wandering in topographic poetry.
