Implementing Comprehensive Sexuality Education for Muslim Children in Europe: A Case Study on Islamic Schools in the Netherlands

Reiko Mihara is an Associate Professor at School of Global Humanities and Social Sciences, Nagasaki University. During 2008-2010, she was a Researcher/Advisor at Permanent Delegation of Japan to UNESCO in Paris, where she engaged in various cultural and educational projects. In 2007, she was also a Post-doctoral Researcher at l'École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS) in Paris. She received her Ph.D in Social Sciences from Hitotsubashi University in 2007.  She is currently carrying out a sociological research on child sexual abuse prevention in multicultural societies in Europe, especially focusing on the role of education and how the contents and way of education should be effectively organised while taking into account the cultural and religious diversity within the society. This research project is funded by Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.
