Trauma-informed work at school - Operation Encompass: a successful collaboration between the police and education

During the final stage of my Masters in ‘Forensic Child and Youth Care Sciences’ at the University of Amsterdam, I did a six-month internship at Augeo. After that I started working at Augeo, just over three years ago. Within the organization I have the responsibility of coordinating the ‘Youth Taskforce on Violence Against Children’, which strives to provide a voice for children and young people who have experienced some form of (domestic) violence. Our activities range from listening to children and young people, to presentations for professionals, to policy discussions with representatives of the government. For the second half of my main activities, I have an active role in the different studies and research projects that are conducted within the organization, e.g. regarding the effectiveness of our digital courses.The present study is the result of a combination of both these activities: a relevant, new study with clear-cut and shocking results into the field of Dutch of adverse childhood experiences, by ánd for children and young people.
