Craig Smith retired from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 2000, after a twenty-seven year career. He spent seventeen of those years in plainclothes sections dealing primarily with Homicide, Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Cases. Since his retirement he has given presentations to more than 12,000 police officers, child protection workers, and other professionals, on Sex Crimes, Interviewing Techniques, Child Physical and Sexual Abuse and Shaken Baby Syndrome Investigations, throughout Canada, the United States, Australia, Singapore, India, and the Philippines.Craig is a co-author of the Manual for the Investigation of Child Sexual Abuse (1988). He also authored: Shaken Baby Syndrome – An Investigator's Manual (2010) and was a contributor to Child Maltreatment – A ComprehensivePhotographic Reference Identifying Potential Child Abuse 3rd and 4th Editions (2005 & 2014).Craig received his Bachelor of General Studies degree from the University of the Fraser Valley in June 2010. He is also a Certified Forensic Child Interviewer (CFCI).
