Boys at risk of sexual abuse in Romania (Results of the BECAN study and their interpretation by children)

Maria Roth is a professor in Social Work, and a clinical psychologist for children; Before entering the academic field she has worked 13 years with children as a speech therapist, a school psychologist and clinical psychologist in special schools, orphanages and hospitals. These experiences have marked her professional career and oriented her to child welfare. She is one of the founders of the social work studies in Romania, working in the Social Work department since 1991. She published several books and articles in the area of child well-being, prevention of violence in schools and families, and the changes in the Romanian child welfare system. She is teaching students at bachelor, master and doctoral level and develops research in the area of Child welfare; Domestic violence; Program and service evaluation; Social exclusion. Her constant research area is Child Welfare and Adverse childhood experiences. Recent research projects focus on Social dimensions of school success, Service standards in protecting Romanian children from abuse and neglect; Children’s rights and Youth’s transition to young adulthood and Risks and resiliencies in Roma childhood.

Imola Antal

Babes Bolyai University

She  works as Associate professor at Babeş-Bolyai University, Romania. She published several books and articles in the area of child abuse and neglect, childhood traumas and domestic violence. She is teaching students at bachelor and  master level and develops research in the area of Child welfare; Domestic violence; Social exclusion. Her constant research area is child abuse and neglect. Recent research projects focus on prevalence of child abuse and neglect,  consequences of childhood traumas, interventions of the child protection system, domestic violence.
