I am a PhD student at the National University of Ireland, Galway. I joined the UNESCO Child and Family Research Centre in October 2013 as a doctoral researcher under the supervision of Professor Caroline McGregor. My main area of research explores adults’ experiences of disclosing childhood sexual abuse to child protection social work services. It aims to present the voice of adults who have experienced childhood sexual abuse and specifically their experiences of disclosing this abuse to social work services in the Republic of Ireland; to present policy recommendations based on the findings from the analysis of these voices, and to inform social work practice in the area of adult disclosures of childhood sexual abuse. I am using Biographical Narrative Interviewing Methodology (BNIM) to gather and interpret these voices. I am a professional qualified and CORU registered Social Worker having attained a First Class honours Master Degree in Social Work from the National University of Ireland, Galway in May 2013. I have spent the past 6 years researching the area of Adult Retrospective Disclosures of Childhood Sexual Abuse and present my work to national, international, policy and community-based fora.
