TACKLING THE MENACE OF CHILD MARRIAGE IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES: A CASE STUDY OF NIGERIA

JohnJohn Uket works for the Nigerian government as a Senior Scientific Officer in the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, Abuja. Being born and raised in a rural community in southern Nigeria, he has an undiluted love for children, young people especially orphans, whom he considered as the most disadvantaged persons in our society. He is a volunteer for children and young people programs in rural communities as well as an advocate for child right act in Nigeria and education of the girl child. His remarkable experience in life is a script of selflessness and service, a feat that has earned him many honours and awards. In 2007, he was conferred with the prestigious President's NYSC National Honours Award by late Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar'Adua, former president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.  He is a prolific writer, researcher, author and seasoned science communicator. As an evangelist, he is committed to building moral values in the workplace and the society at large. His exemplary leadership as a young ambassador and mentor characterize him as a choice speaker for conferences and youth programs.He is happily married to Mrs Stephanie JohnJohn and they are blessed with children.
