Reshaping the global agenda on sexual exploitation of children in travel and tourism

Defence for Children - ECPAT Netherlands
Theo Noten has managed ECPAT Netherlands since 1996. He is also actively involved in the Dutch NGO Coalition on Children’s Rights and engaged in The Code of Conduct for the protection of children from sexual exploitation in travel and tourism since 1998 (board member since 2013). Additionally, Mr. Noten has had leadership or member position with: ECPAT International's Board of Trustees (2005-2011); ECPAT International advocacy team for the Council of Europe Convention against sexual abuse and sexual exploitation of children (2006-2007); International NGO Council on Violence against children - representing ECPAT International - (2007-2015). He has experience in many countries in Western, Central and Eastern Europe, South East Asia, Africa and Latin America. For example: the Five Destinations Child Sex Tourism project; the Girl Power Programme; the Don’t Look Away Programme and the project Reducing Sexual Violence against children, with special focus on sexual exploitation of children in travel and tourism. As part of this, since 2014 he has been engaged in the Global Study on the sexual exploitation in travel and tourism published in May 2016. Mr.Noten has also coordinated and contributed to multiple international publications.
