The incident of child abuse is increasing, The impact of child abuse can cause mental disorders among other psychotic disorders, anxiety disorders, post traumatic disorder and depressive disorders. This study aims to determine the relationship between a history of child abuse and depressive disorder in adolescents. This research was conducted using the method of analytic observational cross-sectional study design, the number of research subjects as many as 768 junior high school students in Bandung, Indonesia. The data collection is done by using two-stage cluster method. A history of child abuse experienced by adolescents were measured using ISPCAN Child Abuse Screening Tool Children's version consisting of five dimensions: psychological victimization, physical victimization, violence exposure, neglect and sexual victimization. Screening for depressive symptoms do with the scale of the Children's Depression Inventory (CDI) with a cut-off score of ≥ 19 and followed by psychiatric interviews to diagnose depression disorder based on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5). Data were analyzed using chi-square correlation test. The results of this study indicate that a history of child abuse associated with depressive disorders (X2 = 0.03). A dimension of psychological victimization is the highest risk factor for the occurrence of depressive disorders than others (PR = 6,51). All dimensions have significant association with depression (p <0.05). Based on these results it can be concluded that there is a relationship between a history of child abuse and depressive disorder in adolescents.
