Suppression of domestic violence is always an ongoing issue at both national and international level. The legislative response to this problem is not easy to give. It is particularly sensitive matter when it comes to children who are the most vulnerable category of society. In Croatia, a comprehensive approach to the problem of domestic violence encompasses mechanisms of criminal, misdemeanor and family law. Prior to a current Criminal Code solution, there were a series of changes caused by various factors. This paper deals with considerations on current theoretical concept and practical consequences toward domestic violence perpetrated against children. The results of research are presented, conducted at the competent court and social welfare center to provide a profile of the perpetrator of domestic violence against children as well as specific circumstances of committing.  It is done to gain insight on how this proclaimed protection functions in practice and whether it is ultimately effective. The final part of the papers contains therefore sugesstions for possible improvement of protection from domestic violence de lege ferenda.
