Abstract: Italy is the representative of western ancient civilization and embracing the long history and colorful culture with well-developed heritage tourism. In 1972, UNESCO issued “World Cultural and Natural Heritage Protection Convention”, and Italy has the largest amount of world heritage in the world. China has 48 items (10 natural heritage and 34 cultural heritage, 4 World Dual Inheritance including 1 transnational heritage) by the end of 2015. The number of world heritage in China ranked the second place. In this study, our team learned experience of Italian cultural heritage tourism development, compared tourism development of China and Italy from aspects of heritage tourism resource, legal system, management system and protection. We hope to analyze good examples of Italian cultural heritage tourism development and promote cultural exchange of both countries.
