Since China’s reform and opening up to the outside world, the tourism industry has developed rapidly in China. China is one of the countries in the world in which the tourism industry grows very fast. There has a high passion to develop tourism in many areas, and rural space become the hot spots. Touristization has become an important driving force to accelerate rural transformation. During the process of touristization, the irrational spatial behaviors of different agents (rural residents, travelers, tourism enterprises, Rural grassroots self-governing organizations and the local governments) in the village and township lead to plenty of spatial problems in the rural areas because of maximizing their benefits, then many contradictions between individual rationality of the rural agents and collective rationality of the healthy development of the rural area are very obvious. The urban fringe district which is next to the large source market has the good locational conditions to develop tourism. It is more typical and it also causes lots of spatial problems.
This paper is problem oriented, selects Wuhan as its research objects to do deep analysis on touristization of suburb of Wuhan city, and applys the Game Theory to analyse the origin of the irrational spatial behaviors. Accordingly, a series of recommendations on public policies are put forwards so as to effectively guide and regulate the spatial behaviors of different agents in the village and township during the process of rural touristization at the urban fringe, and thus build the “Beautiful Village” and optimize the rural space driven by tourism development.
